Recognition for innovation in power management and the future of energy control
DEIF A/S has been awarded Product of the Year 2026 at the EUROPGEN Conference and Grand Gala of the European Generating Set Industry, held at the Mediterranean University Center and Observatory Côte d'Azur in Nice, France. The award recognizes the iE 250 Intelligent Energy Controller, a key component of DEIF's next generation iE Platform and a solution developed to support the evolving requirements of modern power generation systems.
The award was received by Christian Nielsen, Group CEO of DEIF A/S, during the Gala Award Ceremony attended by leading companies and decision makers from across the European generating set industry.
A platform built for the future of power generation
As power systems become increasingly complex, operators face growing demands for flexibility, cybersecurity, efficiency, and scalability. The iE 250 was developed to address these challenges through a platform-based approach that combines control, protection, communication, and system supervision in one integrated solution.
Part of the DEIF iE Platform, the controller enables seamless management of gensets, grid connections, and hybrid energy systems while supporting future expansion and integration of new technologies.
Key benefits include:
- Platform based and scalable architecture
- Integrated genset control and power management
- Cybersecurity by design
- Reduced engineering and commissioning complexity
- Seamless integration with third party systems
- Long term adaptability for changing energy requirements
The result is a control platform that helps operators improve reliability, efficiency, and overall system performance while protecting investments over the full lifecycle of an installation.
Designed with sustainability in mind
The iE 250 supports more efficient operation of power systems by reducing unnecessary generator runtime, optimizing load distribution, and enabling demand based operation strategies. These capabilities contribute directly to lower fuel consumption and reduced emissions.
A recent application demonstrates the impact in practice. In a modular no break power solution for construction environments, the iE 250 enabled generators to run only when required, significantly reducing fuel consumption while maintaining reliable power availability.
As the energy transition accelerates, intelligent control systems play an increasingly important role in maximizing the value of existing power assets while enabling integration of cleaner technologies.
Built for connected and critical infrastructure
Cybersecurity is becoming a critical requirement across the power generation industry. The iE 250 has been developed with secure system architecture, controlled access, secure communication, and structured configuration management as core principles.
The platform is supported by internationally recognized certifications and approvals, including:
- CE Declaration of Conformity
- UKCA Declaration of Conformity
- UL Certificate of Compliance
- DNV Cybersecurity Type Approval
- ABS Cybersecurity Product Design Assessment
- RINA Cybersecurity Certification
These approvals confirm the suitability of the platform for deployment in demanding and connected energy environments.
Supporting the future of the rental industry
In addition to receiving the Product of the Year award, DEIF participated as a sponsor of the EUROPGEN Rental Conference.
During the conference, Jean-Michel Caillol presented DEIF's perspective on The Future of the Rental Industry, highlighting how rental power providers are increasingly adopting hybrid solutions, digital technologies, battery energy storage systems, and renewable energy integration.
The presentation outlined how rental fleets can benefit from:
- Intelligent integration of gensets, batteries, and renewable energy sources
- Reduced fuel consumption and emissions through Energy Management Systems
- Hybrid control and microgrid technologies
- Fleet retrofit and upgrade opportunities
- Open and scalable control platforms
- More flexible and future ready rental operations
A particular focus was placed on DEIF's latest converter technologies based on Silicon Carbide technology, which support compact, efficient, and low emission hybrid rental solutions.
Recognising industry progress
The EUROPGEN Conference and Grand Gala brings together manufacturers, suppliers, technology providers, and industry leaders to discuss the future of power generation and recognize achievements across the sector.
Receiving the Product of the Year 2026 award is an important milestone for DEIF and reflects the company's continued commitment to innovation, cybersecurity, sustainability, and future ready power management solutions.
We would like to thank EUROPGEN, the award jury, industry partners, and customers for their trust and collaboration.
As power systems continue to evolve, DEIF remains committed to developing technologies that help customers operate more efficiently, integrate new energy sources, and improve tomorrow.
