“We really feel the support from DEIF”

Two Belgian critical power experts reflect on a great training experience at the DEIF Academy in Denmark

“To me, almost everything that was said was very instructive,” remarks Sales Engineer Jens Billet from Belgian critical power installation company SDM-Projects. Together with a colleague, Project Engineer Wim Eyckmans, he recently completed an Energy Management Fundamentals course about the iE 250 controller at the DEIF Academy in Denmark – and both attendees were very satisfied.

Personalised and useful training

“We had a great experience during the training session,” says Wim Eyckmans, adding that instructor Ulrik Hannesbo was very good at adjusting the training content to fit the requirements of his audience. “Ulrik really made an effort to personalise the training, and this made it very useful and interesting for us.”

Jens Billet agrees. “My general experience is that anyone, from salesman to engineer, can take the training,” he says. “For the different people present, the instructor was able to cater to their level of knowledge. I feel a lot smarter because I can better understand the different possibilities of the DEIF range.”

A holistic view of energy management

Even though the training focused on the iE 250, Ulrik Hannesbo was able to look beyond the controller and take a more holistic view of energy management issues; an approach that suited the Belgian attendees.

“Ulrik clearly has extensive knowledge of the training subject, but also of other DEIF products,” says Wim Eyckmans. “We were able to discuss subjects that were not part of the training which made it more like a nice discussion that covered more products than only the iE 250.”

Jens Billet adds that Ulrik Hannesbo was able to explain everything in a very accessible way, despite his in-depth technical knowledge of the subject matter.

A nice and calm environment

Another factor that contributed to a great training experience at the DEIF Academy was the location itself, according to Wim Eyckmans.

“The new Academy is a nice and calm environment,” he says. “The clear split-up between a theoretical part and a practical part of the room creates a more intimate way of giving and following the training which helps you stay focused. The training switchboard is really extensive and helps you immediately use the theoretical explanations in practice.”

The Danish Academy is located at the very centre of DEIF corporate headquarters, and the Belgian critical power experts took the opportunity to have a look around.

“We combined our training with a tour of the entire site,” says Jens Billet. “The peaceful atmosphere here is very nice to be present in.”

“We really feel the support from DEIF”

The training course has given Wim Eyckmans and Jens Billet a better understanding of energy management with the iE 250 controller; a learning boost that will serve them well as they return to their day jobs at SDM-Projects.

“The iE 250 builds on the AGC controllers which we have been using for many years now and which have proven very reliable,” concludes Wim Eyckmans. “With the iE 250, we have the same safe feeling, and we are looking forward in using it in the future. And we really feel the support from DEIF in doing this.”
